Giorgio Moroder From Here To Eternity Hip-O Select Release date: October 1, 2004
Giorgio Moroder’s (best known as Donna Summer’s producer) first solo record will sometimes leave you wondering if it didn’t come out last week. Of course, by the second half some of the Seventies disco cheese may give it away, but the first half could very well have been a Global Underground, Milan, Munich, or Metropolis. Although they may argue it, From Here To Eternity makes it seem like Sasha & Digweed haven’t really been that progressive after all, but maybe it’s just a testament to Moroder’s blueprints; 1977 sounds that Underworld and countless others based careers on. After Italian-born, German-bred producer, Moroder, accidentally came up with the sequencing formula that led to “I Feel Love,” he refined and perfected it a few months later for his Casablanca Records debut. Where Queen once boasted: “No synthesizers were used on this record,” Moroder answered: “Only electronic keyboards where used on this recording.” With the first five songs seamlessly blended together, the electro-percussion drives “Faster than The Speed Of Love,” and with the same precision of an astronomically expensive Italian sports car. Actually, he does design sports cars, and songs like “Lost Angles” are perfect for speeding down the 101 Freeway in your brand new Cizeta Moroder. Though this is a must own for any serious student of electronic music, they’ve made it a limited edition (only 5000) collectable that you can order through www.hip-oselect.com. |
