Various Artists Sasha: Fundacion Global Underground Release date: June 21, 2005
Sasha’s legend as a DJ has stemmed from his numerous residencies over the years. His most recent tenancies have been in Los Angeles at Avalon and in New York City at Crobar. During his time at those spots, and his DJ gigs over the last year or so, Sasha has perfected the art of live mixing of using a newer gadget called Maven. On his latest mixed CD, Fundacionnyc he utilizes this controller for the entire disc. Seamless as is expected, what Sasha creates for non-club environment listening rides a balance between seriously pumping and smooth enough to lull you into a deep sleep. This is a meant as a compliment since it implies the DJ has the sensibility to adjust his choices and the tempo of his selection to suit any setting—all you have to do is turn up the volume for the first option, and down for the second.
